Members of the golf team competed at the boys’ and girls’ Skyland Conference Championships this week at Royce Brook Golf Club in Hillsborough.
The boys’ squad got things started on Wednesday, May 1. Moritz Weigold ’19 had a phenomenal performance as he claimed second place overall with a score of 74. Graeme Hollingshead ’21 also had a top-ten finish as he grabbed tenth place with a 79. Rounding out the Knights’ performances were Drew Kramer ’20 with an 83 and Nick Policano ‘20 with an 88.
Gill’s combined scored came out to a 324, which was good enough to finish fourth out of 14 teams in the field. It was an extremely close contest as the Knights finished only nine strokes behind first place.
The girls’ championship was the following day, and Gill had representation from Sophie Chang ’21 and Sydney Lapper ‘21. Chang also claimed a top-10 finish for the program as she took tenth overall with an impressive 84 while Lapper shot a 90.
“We have played a lot of golf recently,” said head coach Mike Cascini. “Our performances over the past week show how dedicated we are to consistently playing at a high level. We are coming up on our sectional tournament so we want to stay focused and are looking forward to that challenge.”
