• Alumni Walkway

  Reserve your place in GSB history by personalizing a brick on the Alumni Walkway. Bricks may be purchased by or for alumni, students, faculty, or friends of the school for $125 (4x8"). Please note that bricks are ordered for the school once per year.

• Brett Mershon Student Fund

  Established in 2017, following the passing of beloved 30-year veteran teacher and administrator, Brett Mershon, the Brett Mershon Student Fund helps families in our school who may not otherwise be able to afford some of the “extras” our program offers, and in some cases requires. This fund will establish an endowment to help ensure all GSB students are able to join trips to Washington DC and Williamsburg, Units, purchase uniforms, or arts supplies, etc.

• E. Alexander Lazor Fund

  An annual fund set up by Pamela Lazor '79 in memory of her father, E. Alexander Lazor. Throughout his lifetime, Alexander was dedicated to promoting education and helping to ensure it was available to those in need. Following his passing, Pamela and her family wish to honor that legacy through these gifts. This fund will provide annual support to Gill St. Bernard's School to aid in the education of our students.

• Jean Loizeaux Scholarship Fund

  This need-based scholarship will assist Middle School student(s) who demonstrate academic excellence and whose families are in need for tuition assistance in order to attend the school.

• Lager Unit Scholarship Fund in Honor of Mike Chimes

  Jeff Lager '86 honored the retirement of Mike Chimes with a matching gift challenge for alumni donations to build an endowment to increase need-based aid for student Spring Unit participation.

• Marilyn Dori Memorial Unit Scholarship

  A scholarship fund set up in memory of GSB faculty member Marilyn Dori, who was a teacher for almost 20 years at the school and during this time touched the lives of countless students, alumni, parents, and colleagues. This fund will provide need-based support to students participating in community service units.

• Gerry Cirillo Prize

  The Gerry Cirillo Prize in the Fine Arts was initiated by alumni to honor and recognize Gerry Cirillo, who spent nearly 40 years at Gill St. Bernard's—many of those as Chair of the Fine Arts Department. Each year the fine arts faculty will award the prize to the most outstanding senior fine arts student. The recipient will be chosen based on their work in ceramics, drawing, photography, painting, or woodworking.

• Patricia Lee Gauch Award for Creative Writing

  Patricia Lee Gauch was a teacher in the Upper School from 1974 to 1984. In appreciation of the lasting impact Gauch made on many of her students, a group of alumni decided to spearhead the creation of the Patricia Lee Gauch Award for Creative Writing to be presented to a graduating senior. The prize recipient is selected by the Upper School English Department faculty based on the following criteria: a senior whose inventive voice, artful storytelling, and disciplined work contribute to the literary life of Gill St. Bernard’s.

• Silverman Unit Scholarship Fund

  The Unit,and its focus on experiential learning, is a signature feature of the GSB curriculum. Britany Silverman Nelson ’97 and her family established this fund in 2011 to help students who may be unable to afford a particular Unit being offered. Recent Unit programs include Alaska: The Last Frontier, From Houses to Homes: Guatemala, and Art, Culture & History: Santa Fe, New Mexico.

• Thomas Patrick Kelly Memorial China Unit Scholarship

  In 2012, a generous gift from Sanofi, an international pharmaceutical company, helped establish the endowment for the Thomas Patrick Kelly Memorial China Unit Scholarship, honoring the Sanofi employee and GSB alumnus Tom Kelly. Tom traveled to China with a Unit trip in 1986. He went on to spend most of his career living and working in China. After Tom passed away in 2011, his family, friends, and Sanofi colleagues joined together to establish this scholarship at Gill St. Bernard’s. The endowment will be used to ensure that those interested in participating could be given the opportunity to do so despite any financial constraints.

• Schmidt Community Service Fund

  In honor of long time GSB employees Peter and Randi Schmidt, this endowment fund was established by alumni to support student participation in community service and an annual service and civic engagement lecture series. As a part of the lecture series, each year a chosen speaker will address the school community with a public address and collaborate with students and faculty during classes and in other small group discussions. The goal of the series is to engage the Gill St. Bernard’s community in lively conversation and dialogue about the most important issues in current affairs and civic life.
