Chaney brings over 25 years of experience as a teacher, cheer coach, and dance instructor to Gill. She has studied all genres of dance and holds a B.A. in Business Marketing from Rutgers University.
 
She started her performing career as a dancer for the NBA, the Nets, and for the NJ Rockin’ Rollers Hockey Team. She has won several awards through “Dance Educators of America,” “Dance America,” “Dance Olympus,” and has been recognized for outstanding work and leadership with children.
 
Chaney is a certified dance and fitness instructor in New Jersey and has taught in public and private schools on the elementary and high school level. She was the head varsity cheerleading coach for Orange School district for over 10 years.
 
Chaney is also the owner of LaChaney’s Dance and Music Academy in Maplewood, New Jersey. She encourages her students to dream big, and her goal is to take the cheer program at GSB to the next level.

Led by head coach LaShonda Chaney, the cheerleading squad is instrumental in displaying Gill school spirit around the campus. Their enthusiasm and passion for their sport helps the school community support the student-athletes at Pep Rallies, Spirit Day, and boys and girls basketball games. Their acrobatic moves, loud cheers, and blue and white colors makes everyone want to cheer on the Knights!

Middle School

The coed cheerleading squad serves as a great opportunity for students to learn the basics of cheering. This program shows the importance of school spirit and showing encouragement to all student-athletes.
