The GSB K-12 Spring Art Exhibition is currently taking the form of an online venue. It offers an opportunity to browse the artwork, created during quarantine by Lower, Middle and Upper School students, without stepping into a physical space. During this pandemic, students of all ages found solace and support through their visual arts courses, as their teachers provided valuable remote learning opportunities for exploration. Students learned to create, respond to, and make connections with the visual world around them. They were encouraged to set-up work spaces, sort through recycling bins, go outside, and use non-traditional materials with which to create.
Students analyzed artwork by relevant artists past and present and created work that reflected their ideas, feelings, and concepts in response. At times, having more uninterrupted time to work on individual pieces worked to the students’ advantage, without having to quickly clean-up and rush off to their next class. The quality of the work, the resourcefulness, and commitment to creating original, thought-provoking work is evident in this show, and we are so proud to share it with the community. Enjoy!
