Denise Wilson enters her second year as head coach of the girls’ lacrosse team. Wilson was a standout athlete in the sport in high school and college and later as a coach. She is eager to bring her experience to a growing program.

“I am really excited to share my past experiences in the sport with the girls,” she says. “I hear that they are pretty psyched for the upcoming season, so I am really looking forward to building the sport here at Gill.”

Wilson grew up in Baltimore and attended the Bryn Mawr School. While there, she was a four-year varsity award winner in lacrosse and field hockey and also received All-American honors. She received a full scholarship to compete on the field hockey team for Pennsylvania State University where she studied business and German.

After her playing days, Wilson began coaching the sport she loves. She was the head coach at the Pingry School for 17 years while also coaching at the Watchung Hills Lacrosse Club and the Millburn-Short Hills Lacrosse Club.

“I just truly love the sport because it intertwines beauty, grace, intellect and athleticism,” she says. “It really can be so much fun to watch and even more fun to play!”

Along with coaching, Wilson works in administration and serves as an EMT and a volunteer with the Watchung Rescue Squad.
