Girls' Volleyball

Leading JV girls' volleyball—the new newest sports program at Gill—is head coach Mark Signorelli. He has a strong background in the sport both as a coach and an athlete and will be using this experience to help guide the Knights through their inaugural season.

 

Prior to coaching at Gill, Signorelli served as the assistant coach of the boys’ volleyball team at Christian Brothers Academy for five years. While there, the program consistently ranked in the Top-10 in the state and also featured a handful of All-State players. He has also coached at the collegiate level, working with girls’ volleyball at Raritan Valley Community College.

 

“Gill has a tradition of successful athletic teams, and I am looking forward to contributing to that tradition,” he says.

 

Prior to coaching, Signorelli was a standout athlete in the sport. He played at St. Joseph's High School in Metuchen and was captain of the team his senior year. That year, the team ranked second in New Jersey and reached the state semifinals.

 

“Volleyball is a sport that rewards hard work,” he explains. “Often the best players are not the best athletes but those who have spent the time honing their skills. It is very rewarding to watch how much young players can improve over time with dedication to the sport.”

 

Signorelli is also an Upper School English teacher at GSB.
