Knights Earn Win, Qualify for State Tournament
The boys’ tennis team earned its fourth win of the season on Friday, May 4, as the Knights came from behind to defeat Bound Brook, 3-2.
Evan Matthews ’20 in first singles and Ryan Shin ’21 in second singles had strong showings against their opponents but ultimately dropped their matches. Gill, however, would go on to win the next three matches to win the contest.
Andrew Margolis ’20 picked up the win from third singles while the doubles teams of Dara Nourbakhsh ’19 and Frank Xiang ‘20 as well as James Hersh ‘20 and Tyler Lynch ‘20 emerged victorious as well.
This win turned out to be crucial as it was the determining factor in the Knights making the Non-Public B, North state tournament. Gill grabbed the eighth and final seed and they will take on top-ranked Newark Academy on Tuesday, May 14.
