Girls’ Swimming Falls in State Semi-Finals
The girls’ swim team’s impressive season came to an end on Monday, February 17, as the Knights lost to state power Trinity Hall, 127-43, in the Non-Public B State Semi-Finals.
The Monarchs displayed an impressive combination of depth and middle-lane talent, proving why they are one of the top programs in New Jersey.
Gill was able to secure four second-place finishes throughout the contest. The first one was picked up by Maddie Soultanian ’22 in the 100 freestyle, followed by Becca Michaels ’20 in the 100 backstroke.
Michaels, Soultanian, Laura Howard ’21, and Olivia Soultanian ’22 teamed up to grab second place in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays as well.
The Knights finish the season with a 6-1 divisional record in their first year in the Skyland Conference and an overall record of 8-2.
“It was definitely a tough way to end the season, but I told the girls to not let this take away from the incredible successes they experienced this season,” said head coach Nolan Silbernagel. “To have such a strong first season in the Skyland Conference, and to make the State Semi-Finals, are something they should be really proud, and what we look to build on for next year.”
