Knights Travel to Staten Island for Major Competition
The indoor track and field teams competed against 36 other schools at the South Jersey Track Coaches Association Invitational on Monday, February 17, hosted at the world-class Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility on Staten Island.
The GSB athletes continued to see improvement in their performances, as the squad recorded 11 new personal records. Multiple Knights earned top-30 finishes, an impressive achievement given the large number of schools in attendance.
Emily Raia ’20 had the highest finish on the day, taking fifth in the long jump. She also placed 11th in the 55 meter hurdles, and 17th in the 55 meters. Kellyn Bucceri ’22 grabbed 17th in the long jump, 26th in the 55 meter hurdles, and 29th in the 55 meters. Niels Rongen ‘20 had the highest finish on the boys’ side, taking 29th in the 800 meters.
The next team competition will be on Friday, February 28, at the Non-Public B Group Championships at the Bennett Center in Toms River.
