Indoor Track and Field Teams Have Strong Showings at Preps
The boys’ and girls’ indoor track teams had their best meet of the season when they competed at the NISAA Prep Championships on February 2 at the Lawrenceville School.
The boys’ squad accumulated 42 points and finished fourth overall in Division B while the girls’ team grabbed 13.50 points and finished seventh.
The highlight of the day on the boys’ side came from the throwing team of Luca Del Vescovo ’20 and Mark Giordano ’19. Del Vescovo grabbed the top spot in the Division B shot put with a throw of 38 feet, nine inches while Giordano grabbed second overall with a throw of 36 feet, eight inches. Ansh Patel ’21 also had a strong showing as he took second place in the Division B 800 meter with a time of 2:14.82. The boys’ distance runners had a successful day as Niels Rongen ’20 finished second in the Division B 3200 meter with a time of 11:37.01 and William Strong ’22 took fifth with a time of 12:10.01
On the girl’s side, Lucie Antonius ’21 took first place in the Division B 800 meter with a time of 2:29.93. The girls’ top team event was the Division B 200 meter with three Gill runners placing in the top-10 of a crowded field. Antonius finished sixth (29.57), Sam Lowe ’20 took seventh (29.79) while Anna Mikula ‘20 grabbed tenth (30.19).
