Two throwers on the boys’ indoor track team qualified for the prestigious Meet of Champions, which was held this past weekend at the John Bennet Indoor Sports Complex in Toms River.
Mark Giordano ’19 and Luca Del Vescovo ’20 both qualified for the meet the previous weekend by placing in the top six in the shot put at the Group Championships.
Unfortunately, Del Vescovo was unable to compete in the state meet due to an injury. Giordano also had some tough luck, twisting his ankle on his first throw and unable to record a distance for the meet.
Despite the athletes not being able place, co-head coach Eve Campeau was very proud of both throwers for advancing this far.
“This accomplishment was particularly exciting for Mark as a senior competing in his first ever MOC competition,” she said. “Also, Luca is taking the foundation he's built during the indoor season and looking forward to reaching new goals in the spring track & field months.”
