Ice Hockey Has Busy Start to Season

The ice hockey team is having a busy and early start to the winter season, already playing in three games, while most other winter sports have not even began competing yet.
 
The Knights got the season off to a hot start by erupting for eight goals in an 8-0 shutout win over Parsippany Hills on November 29. The offense was active early and often, putting an incredible 58 shots on goal.
 
Brenen Lavoie ’21 led all scorers with a hattrick while Eddie McCarthy ’20 and Christian Mote ’22 each recorded four points with two goals and two assists apiece. Alex Steinberg ’22 was in net to earn the shutout.
 
GSB was not able to replicate this dominant defensive performance, however, as the Knights went on two lose their two following games, each by two goals.
 
Gill fell to Oratory Prep on November 30, 5-3. Lavoie recorded his second-straight multi-goal game by scoring twice, and Mote also provided a goal. Matt Bloomenthal ’22 had the lone assist on the day. The Knights would then go on to fall to Mount Olive by a score of 3-1 on December 5. Mote scored the only goal for GSB, with Lavoie and Liam Jones ‘21 both assisting on the goal. Steinberg was busy between the pipes, making 20 saves on the night.
 
The Knights are back in action on Tuesday, December 10, against Mountain Lakes at 5:45 p.m.
