Weekend Sports Wrap

The girls' varsity basketball team celebrated on Saturday with a major win against #8 ranked Franklin 69-55 in the semifinals of the Somerset County Tournament. Sophomore Sydnei Caldwell had career high 36 points to lead the way. Sophomore Nisani Santiago chipped in with 16 points, while sophomore Emma Fetrow put up six points and seven rebounds.

In the quarterfinals of the SCIAA, junior Ariel White had 16 points and six rebounds to lead Gill past Somerville 62-45. Caldwell had 15 points and seven assists, while Santiago had 10 points with five assists. The girls will face off once again against Rutgers Prep on Saturday in the finals of the SCIAA basketball tournament at 1:00 p.m. in Franklin.

In track, junior thrower C.J. Licata, who has won five meets this season, added another this past Saturday in the NJSIAA Non-Public Group Championships at the Bennett Center. Licata's first place finish at the groups has propelled him into the Meet of Champions (MOC) this coming Saturday at the Bennett Center. Senior thrower Erica Phiansunthon placed third at the Group Championship and will be competing in the MOC on Sunday at the Bennett Center as well.
