Varsity Boys' Fencing Defeats Somerville High
Varsity boys' fencing edged out its last two opponents 14-13, defeating West Windsor Plainsboro North on January 7 and Somerville last night.
In last night's competition, sabreur Landon Braemer '17 led the scoring, winning in all three rounds (5-4, 5-2, and 5-4). Important contributions came from two freshman sabreurs: Mark Rusas contributed a 5-4 win in round one, and freshman Alex Dering bested his opponent 5-2 in round three. Among the foilists, senior Ross Pollack took the first two rounds decisively, 5-0, 5-1, but was edged out round three. Other foil contributions came from Sam Zimmer '16, with a win in round two, and Jack Riccardo '17 with a third round victory. For the epee squad, Lachlan Wright '17 and Barrett Reep '19 contributed first-round wins. After a close round-one loss, Luke Fischer '16 posted decisive 5-1 wins for rounds two and three.
