The boys’ basketball team has had a strong start to the season, winning its first three games against solid opponents.
The Knights started on a high note on December 20, defeating Hillsborough, 92-28, during the school’s “white out” pep rally. Will Soucie '20 led GSB with a triple-double, scoring 13 points and recording ten rebounds and ten assists. Fellow senior Zach Martini also had a great first game, scoring 17 points and recording 14 rebounds. Denver Anglin '22 and Mack Mgbako '23 led all scorers with 18 points each.
Gill kept up the momentum on Sunday, December 22, taking down Marist, 78-67. Martini had a monster game for the Knights, scoring 22 points, and recording 16 rebounds and six blocks. Mgbako recorded a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds, and Anglin (18) and Isaac Hester '23 (13) each scored double-digit point totals.
GSB’s next game was on Friday, December 27, during the Slam Dunk to the Beach Tournament in Delaware. The Knights took on National Christian (Maryland) and came away with a 59-52 victory, thanks to a huge fourth quarter. Martini was once again unstoppable, scoring 25 points and recording 15 rebounds. Anglin was the only other Knight to hit double-digit points with 16.
