Boys’ Cross Country Places Third at Preps

The boys’ cross country team had a very strong showing at the Prep Championships on Wednesday, November 6, with the Knights recording many personal best times and ultimately finishing third out of nine schools, and just missing out on second place by four points.

The Knights were led by William Strong ’22, as he recorded a top-10 finish by taking ninth place with a blistering fast time of 17 minutes and 53 seconds. Rounding out Gill’s performances were Niels Rongen ’20 (13th), Teddy Lazar ’20 (18th), James Koether ‘21 (21st), Andrew Young ’21 (23rd), Lachlan Wood ’22 (26th), and Alex Tulenko ’22 (35th).

“This quality finish was earned by hard training and a consistently strong effort,” said head coach Mike Parker. “The boys are proud of their performance because they know they earned this team result by working together, running smarter, and giving everything they had both physically and mentally. That is all I can ask for, and I am very proud of them.”

Also representing Gill at the Prep Championships was Anne Wang ’22, as she competed in the girls’ race, taking 32nd overall with a time of 24 minutes and 32 seconds.

GSB will finish its season on Saturday, November 16, at the Non-Public B Championships.
