Knights Place Second at Somerset County Championships
The girls’ tennis team had a phenomenal showing at the Somerset County Championships this past Saturday, September 28, as the Knights took second place overall.
Gill, the 7th-ranked program in the state, fell just behind winner Pingry, the sixth-ranked squad in the state, by the slim margin of 22 points to 19.
Leading the way for the Knights were Mayjah Jean-Pierre ’21 and Ella Baker ‘21 as both players took home individual titles. Pierre took the crown in first singles while Baker grabbed the title in second singles.
“I’m very happy for Ella and Mayjah for taking home the individual titles because they have been trying for two years to accomplish that goal and to finally come through was huge,” said Head Coach Patrick Hensley. “Losing the team championship by three points tells us that we are right there with the best teams in the state and we look to build off this to finish the season strong.”
