The girls’ tennis team had an incredible week on the court, with the Knights defeating the fourth-ranked program in the state, Bridgewater-Raritan, 3-2 on Wednesday, September 18th.
GSB, who is now the seventh-ranked squad in New Jersey, was able to pull off the upset thanks to phenomenal play from the singles positions. Mayjah Jean-Pierre ’21, Ella Baker ’21, and Michaela Kroon ’22 were all victorious to help seal the huge, upset win over the Panthers.
The Knights returned to the court the next day to take on North Hunterdon, and GSB was once again the winner, defeating its conference foe, 5-0. Gill swept the singles matches and also received wins from the doubles teams of Tori Goldin ‘20 and Callie Dahler ’22 and Sophie Nourbakhsh ‘21 and Caitlyn Matthews ’20.
Unfortunately, Gill ended the week with a loss against powerhouse program Lawrenceville on Saturday, September 21, 4-1. Jean-Pierre was the lone victor for GSB. The Knights now own a record of 8-3.
