Girls’ Soccer Has Strong Week on the Pitch

The girls’ soccer team had another solid week of competition, as the Knights went 2-1 against divisional rivals.

GSB got things started on the right foot on Tuesday, September 10, with a 2-0 win over Belvidere. Emily Raia ’20 and Sam Lowe ’20 each contributed a goal, while Ava DiCesare ‘23 and Delaney Yates ‘23 each recorded an assist. Emily Zimmer ’20 was in goal for the second shutout of the season.

Unfortunately, the Knights saw their win streak snapped on Thursday, September 12, as they fell to a very talented Rutgers Prep squad by a score of 4-0. However, Gill was able to rebound nicely, as it soundly defeated Bound Brook, 5-0, on Friday, September 13. Zimmer led all scorers with a pair of goals while Raia contributed a goal and two assists. Also scoring for GSB was Grace Crimi ‘23 while Yates and Lauren Rossiter ‘23 added an assist as well.

"It has been great to get impressive results over some quality opponents early in the year," said Head Coach Mike Williams. "Hopefully we can keep pushing on from here and get better every week so we're ready for a long postseason run."

The Knights will be back in action on Tuesday, September 17 against Manville.
