The boys’ soccer team had a lopsided win and a tough loss during last week’s action.
The Knights got the week off with an exclamation point, as Gill defeated Montgomery, 7-0, on Tuesday, October 1. Micaah Garnette ‘21 was once again the top goal scorer, recording a hat trick. Adam Berrocal ‘21 and Jordan Canica ‘21 also had great days on the pitch, as Berrocal had two goals and three assists, and Canica added two goals and two assists. Goalie Alex Borto ‘22 had seven saves on the day to earn his third shutout of the year.
Unfortunately, GSB could not keep up the momentum, losing 4-3 to Hunterdon Central on Thursday, October 3. This was Gill’s third loss of the season, and all of their defeats have come by one goal. Garnette was once again busy for the offense, scoring two goals while Finlay Turnbull ‘21 added a goal as well.
Away from the field, the Knights were named the top-seed in the Somerset County Tournament on the morning of Thursday, October 3. With the number one seed, Gill automatically advances to the quarterfinals, which will be held on Saturday, October 19.
