The boys’ indoor track and field team had a terrific showing at the Prep Championships at The Lawrenceville School on Saturday, February 1. The Knights took second place overall in the “B” Division, only finishing behind Morristown-Beard.
The day was highlighted by two exceptional performances, with Joe Licata ’22 claiming gold in the shot put with a personal record throw of 50 feet, one inch, and also being crowned Prep champion was Will Strong ’22, winning the 1600 meters in a time of 4:54.48. Strong also took fourth in the 3200 meters.
Niels Rongen ’20 also had a strong showing for Gill, placing second in the 3200 meters and third in the 1600 meters, as did Alex Tulenko ‘22, taking second in the high jump, and third in the 55 meters hurdles.
Also recording top-six finishes for GSB were James Koether ’21 in the 800 meters (second), Teddy Lazar ’20 in the 800 meters (fourth), Ansh Patel ’21 in the 400 meters race (sixth), Brian Young ’21 in the 55 meters hurdles (fifth), and Zac Saunders ’22 in the shot put (third).
