The Gill St. Bernard’s ice hockey team enjoyed a strong week of competition, tying previously unbeaten Mountain Lakes on Wednesday, December 11, and defeating Whippany Park on Saturday, December 14.
The Knights opened the week by drawing a 2-2 tie against the 4-0 Lakers. Sophomore Logan Mote had two assists forGSB, while juniors Brenen Lavoie and Liam Jones each added a goal. Fellow junior goalie Matt Cooper was phenomenal in net, recording 23 saves.
Gill was able to get back into the win column after beating Whippany Park, 3-0. Lavoie led the way for the Knights with two goals, and senior Eddie McCarthy also scored a goal. Jones dished out two assists, while Mote and sophomore Matt Bloomenthal each recorded an assist. Cooper was once again dominant in between the pipes, stopping all 23 shots on goal.
The Knights return to action against West Morris on Thursday, December 19.
