Gill St. Bernard's School Earns Environmental Stewardship Recognition
Gill St. Bernard's School was recently recognized by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) for its leadership in Environmental Stewardship. Following an inspection of the campus by officials from the Water Quality Program, the school was cited for "voluntary and proactive measures taken to improve the environment and foster sustainability." Specific categories highlighted include: Environmental Purchasing Policy; Outreach Program; Hazardous Materials Reduction; Material Conservation; Process/Operations Energy Use Reduction; Transportation Energy Use Reduction; and Environmental Enhancement Project.
"We are honored to be acknowledged by the NJDEP for our school's efforts in environmental stewardship," said Sid Rowell, Head of School. "We recognize the short and long-term significance of sustainable practices and, by seeking to improve our environmental performance beyond the minimum requirements, we are teaching our students life lessons about community and the role we all must play in continuously improving it."
