‘Cause it's alright we're comin homeStephanie Amoroso's '11 long-standing affinity for her alma mater and her passion for music seemingly collided while thinking about the GSB Class of 2020. When introducing her original song, "Movin' On," she says, "It is unfortunate for the seniors who are graduating to not be able to be on campus right now, but I just wanted to say that the relationships you make at Gill, and the friendships that you have, will transcend far beyond the campus. My five best friends are from Gill, and we still talk every day." Stephanie's song is reminiscent of their timeless connections formed almost a decade ago in the theatre and music programs at Gill St. Bernard's School.
"To the Class of 2020, the biggest piece of advice I have is — I know it's not ideal right now, but don't wish these days away; you will never get this time back. Live inside this moment and enjoy what's happening now. It is really an interesting time for perspective, and let your people know you care about them and you are there for them."
MOVIN ON
By Stephanie Amoroso
Doesn't life seem funny when you stop and look around?
Flashing back to who you were before you left this town
Well things don't seem to bad now that you crossed that city line
Can't turn back the clock now oh, but you sure as hell can try
It's that call you choose to answer
The one that keeps you coming back
To remind you of the good old days, the ones you can't get back
When you drive these streets at night
Familiar sound of crickets on
Remember how we used to sing along?
But we keep on
Keepin on
Drivin fast, a midnight song
And we keep on
Movin on
'Cause it's alright we're comin home
It's etched inside the pavement
At the diner down the street
Running late into chapel
Searching for an empty seat
Like a summer haze, our high school days
The house where we would meet
And what we wouldn't give for one more song left on repeat
But we keep on
Keepin on
Drivin fast, a midnight song
And we keep on
Movin on
'Cause it's alright we're comin home
Can you tell me
Cuz time don’t seem to know
And things were so much easier when you were down the road
Can you tell me
Do you know
Cause I'm not ready to let go
But we keep on
Keepin on
Drivin fast, a midnight song
And we keep on
Movin on
'Cause it's alright we're comin home
