Middle School Boys’ Tennis Recap

The Middle School boys’ tennis team had another strong season on the court as the Knights finished the spring with a 4-3 record.

The highlight of the season was a home match on April 18 against Pingry. After a five-year stretch in which Gill had not defeated Pingry at the Middle School level, the boys were able to claim four out of the five matches to secure the win. Those victories included Robin Weigold ’23 and Jack Dahler ’24 at first doubles, Austin Carey ’23 and Travis Xue ’23 at second doubles, Tyler Tellalian ’23 and Brendan Halstead ’23 at third doubles and Sohum Thakkar ’24 and Peter Frantz-Pendell ’24 at fourth doubles.

The Knights ended the season on a high note, defeating Golda Och 5-0 on May 9. The doubles team of Akshay Patel ’23 and Drew Vollrath ’23 were also victorious along with the other doubles pairings.

The season was a great success due to the commitment from both the students and the parents.

“We were very fortunate to have Anne Vollrath as our Team Parent as she was a tremendous help with our team,” said head coach Chris Walsh. “She was responsible for setting up our snack and drink schedule for the matches and organized our end of season team party. I would like to thank her and all of the parents for their efforts!”
