Rebecca Michaels ’20 represented Gill at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions at Gloucester County Technical Institute this past weekend.
Last year, Michaels became the first girl in school history to qualify for the meet and competed in the 100 freestyle. This year, Michaels enjoyed an incredible season in which she qualified again in the 100 freestyle and also in the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke.
Of those events, Michaels chose to compete in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke. She went 25.09 in the 50 freestyle and finished 31st in the state and went 1:00.09 in the 100 backstroke to finish 29th overall.
“The qualifying times are extremely fast, and to make one event is a great achievement, so to qualify in three events is pretty remarkable,” said head coach Nolan Silbernagel. “It is great to have Gill at the state championship meet, and she did a great job representing our school.”
