Girls’ Swim Team Improves to 2-0

The girls’ swim team improved its record to 2-0 after the Knights defeated Morristown-Beard on Monday, December 17 by a score of 90-78.
 
Gill was led by Rebecca Michaels ’20 and Maddie Soultanian ’22, with both swimmers recording first-place finishes. Michaels touched the wall first in the 200 Individual Medley (2:38.54) and 100 Butterfly (1:14.67) while Soultanian was victorious in the 50 Freestyle (30.81) and 100 Backstroke (1:17.35). Michaels and Soultanian also teamed up with Laura Howard ’21 and Olivia Soultanian ’22 to win the 200 Freestyle (2:04.82) and 400 Freestyle (4:48.16) relays.
 
Also grabbing individual top-three finishes were O. Soultanian (200, 500 Freestyle), Caroline Grant ’20 (200, 500 Freestyle), Howard (50, 100 Freestyle), Ella Quincy ’22 (50 Freestyle), and Kelsey Breuer ’20 (100 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke).
 
“Morristown-Beard was the seventh seed in the state tournament last year, so to come out and get a win against them was huge,” said head coach Nolan Silbernagel. “It definitely shows that we are on the right path.”
 
The Knights next hit the water on Monday, January 7, against Franklin High School.
