For the 20th consecutive year, the Gill St. Bernard’s campus was home to countless of pumpkins and middle school athletes on Friday, October 25, for GSB’s Pumpkin Run. This competition has served as the Middle School Athletic Conference Championship for the past four years for NJ prep schools.
Fourteen schools competed in the 1.7 mile race, with the Knights having great showings against this strong competition. The boys’ team took second place overall, while the girls’ squad took fourth.
The top finishers for Gill on the boys’ side were Lance Hollingshead ‘24 (sixth), Dean Smith ’24 (ninth), and John Kelly ’24 (tenth). In the girls’ race, Sam Leo ’24 (16th) and Ema Hercules ’25 (17th) were the top finishers for GSB.
“Nearly everyone earned best times, including some runners taking minutes off their starting time, which I was so excited about, and I am so thrilled with their performances” said head coach Shelly LaBarre. “It's very busy hosting a large scale event such as this, and I want to thank all of the parent volunteers, especially to our Team Mom Michelle Leo, for everything they did to make this such a successful and fun season.”
Gill St. Bernard’s is a private, coeducational day school for students age three through grade 12, located in suburban New Jersey. Each of the three school divisions provides a rigorous, meaningful, and age-appropriate curriculum, and all students benefit from the environmental learning opportunities that exist on our 208-acre campus.
