Andrew Bednarsky and Kristen Armstrong Join GSB Soccer Staff

 

Alumnus Andrew Bednarsky ’10 will return to Gill St. Bernard's as assistant soccer coach, working with both Upper and Middle School players. A former standout for the Knights, Bednarsky helped the varsity boys to their first Non-Public B State championship, a Skyland Conference Valley Division crown, one Sectional title and two Patriot Conference crowns. He graduated from GSB with 1st Team honors at the state, county and conference levels, and continued his prolific career as a four-year starter at St. Lawrence University. He earned 1st Team All-American, All-Region and All-Conference distinctions, as well as Liberty League men’s soccer Player-of-the-Year, before graduating from St. Lawrence with a bachelor’s degree in psychology this past spring. Bednarsky’s prior coaching experience includes six years with the Stronghold Soccer Club. He hopes to become the first GSB Knight to win a State championship both as a player and as a coach.

 

Kristen Armstrong will be a varsity assistant and head JV coach for the girls’ soccer program. Armstrong joins Gill from The Swain School in Allentown, Pa. She will also serve as an Upper School faculty member during the 2014-15 academic year. After playing for four years with the Division I Cornell University women’s soccer team, Armstrong spent several years coaching soccer camps at Cornell and Penn State universities. She also served as assistant varsity coach of the Harley Allendale Columbia School soccer program in Rochester, N.Y. and spent two years as head middle school soccer coach at the Flint Hill School in Oakton, Va.
