Mike Williams enters his sixth season as the Head Coach of the girls’ soccer program here at Gill. During Williams’ time at the helm, the team has seen a remarkable growth in success and competitiveness.

Williams has led the team to strong showings over the past few seasons. Last season, Williams helped lead the Knights to their first divisonal title since 2007 and finished the year with a 14-3-2 record. In 2017, the team finished one game out of the Mountain Division title and reached the Non-Public B semifinals for the second year in a row. In 2014, the girls squad advanced all the way to the state sectional final. Williams has also produced numerous 1st Team All-State and Conference players who have gone on to play at the NCAA Division I level.

Along with coaching at Gill, Williams coached the travel club team Stronghold to a NJ Cup championship and Massey High School to the New Zealand Division 1 National Finals.

Williams also achieved high levels of success throughout his playing career. He played for New Zealand’s only professional soccer team, the New Zealand Knights, in the Australian National Football League in 2003. Prior to that, he competed at the NCAA Division I level while playing for Virginia Tech. He was also on his high school’s national championship winning team in New Zealand.

“Seeing the progression has been my favorite part about coaching this program,” said Williams. “We are now starting to really develop a culture in the Gills girls’ soccer team and are starting to see the results. We are consistently in the top-three in the Skyland Conference and being semifinalists in the state.”

Along with leading the girls’ program at Gill, Williams serves as the Regional Director at Maestro Soccer and is also the Director of the youth travel club FC Berna.
