Greg DaSilva and Chris Wiggins enter their fourth season as co-head coaches of the ice hockey team. Their extensive background in the sport both as players and a coaches has helped establish the young program.

The Knights are coming off a breakout season in which they won their first-ever conference tournament game, and qualified for the state playoffs for the first time in program history as well.

“What I like most about coaching at Gill is how committed everyone is to their respective programs, the culture of the Athletic Department, and how smart the students are,” says Wiggins. “The hockey team is young and has been taking strides in the right direction the past two seasons. We’re really excited to see what this year has in store for us as we look forward to taking that next step.”

Along with coaching at Gill, Wiggins has coached youth hockey for seven years and is currently the assistant coach for the 16 & Under ISS Kings. DaSilva also has four years of experience coaching youth hockey. As athletes, DaSilva and Wiggins were both on the Randolph High School team that won a New Jersey State Championship 2006. Wiggins also went on to win a DVCHL Championship with Monmouth University in 2009.

“The foundation for greatness is already in place at a school like Gill St. Bernard’s,” says DaSilva. “The coaching staff has the responsibility to match a culture of high achievement for academics and other sports on campus. There is absolutely no limit on where we can take Gill St. Bernard’s hockey in New Jersey. That challenge is what excites us the most.”
