Varsity Swimming Defeats Dayton

Last Thursday, varsity swimming defeated Jonathan Dayton High (88-78), with the team taking first place in seven of the 11 events.
 
In the 200 Medley, the relay team of Gabrielle Breuer '17, Jennifer Montejo '16, Carter Silvey '16 and Michael Urowsky '16 placed first with a combined time of 2:11.24. Boding well for the future of the swimming program, some strong performances came from freshmen and sophomores. Freshman Preston Reep took first in both the 200 Freestyle (2:28.64) and the 500 Freestyle (7:35.14), with sophomore Sabrina Sukhin taking second (7.53:01) in the 500, and freshman Christian Ernst claimed second in the 50 Freestyle (28.62) and third in the 100 Freestyle (1:07.75). The team relied on the experience of its seniors as well, with Montejo, who was awarded an honorable mention in the All-Prep B last season, garnering first in both the 200 IM (2:43.55) and the 100 Butterfly (1.14.91) and Silvey taking first in the 50 Freestyle (24.81) and second the 100 Freestyle (1:01.47). Rounding out a successful showing, the relay team of Montejo, Reep, Ernst and Silvey earned first in the 400, with a time of 4:26.13.
