Inspired by Their Mother, GSB Brothers "Feed the Fighters"

Each day Ansh Patel '21 and Laksh Patel '23 watch their healthcare-working mother come home, "and the first thing she does is change into a different pair of clothes, immediately takes a shower, and washes all her clothes from the day." According to Ansh, "Mom does this to make sure her selfless work does not negatively affect anyone at home." Yet, the brothers "can feel the emotions on her face." Recognizing that she is just one of the thousands of frontline healthcare workers that experience harsh daily routines in their battle against COVID-19, Ansh and Laksh created the fundraising site "Feed the Fighters" to help frontline workers "stay positive, healthy, and motivated."

Their plan was to provide meals to the workers, while simultaneously supporting local restaurants, and their plan worked. "We were able to raise approximately $8,000 and sponsor breakfasts and lunches for 900+ medical workers. This one small act of kindness was a way to show our appreciation for those who are exhausting themselves to save others," Laksh noted.

With the generous contributions to the fundraising site, frontline workers from over 20 hospitals in various departments, including Radiology, Cardiology, Surgical Units/Operating rooms, Central Service Units, and Neurophysiology had breakfasts and lunches delivered.

Thank you, Ansh and Laksh. GSB is inspired by your kindness and generosity.
