GSB's Team Chaos Shows Camaraderie, Perseverance, and Teamwork

GSB's Upper School robotics team, Team Chaos, had its first competition of the 2020 season this past weekend in Hatboro-Horsham, Pennsylvania, competing with 35 other high school teams from the region as part of the FIRST Mid Atlantic Division. Head Coach Haley Katz reported, "Team members have been working diligently on the robot since the season kickoff on January 6."

This year's theme, "Infinite Recharge," included a Disney Star Wars connection. Teams could build robots or "droids" that shoot power cells into high and low power ports, rotate a control panel/color wheel, and climb on a shield generator switch at the end, all to score various points. The team designed their robot to do all three to gain the maximum amount of points.

According to Assistant Coach Carrie Johnson, "While the team didn't rank as high as it would have liked, team members and coaches had positive spirits, camaraderie, perseverance, and showed excellent teamwork throughout the competition!"

Along with Head Coach Haley Katz, Assistant Coach Carrie Johnson, team mentors Alessandra Sanchez, Len Graboswski, and Stuart Brown worked with Team Chaos members who participated in the competition, including: Nico Babbio '22, Guilia Bailey '21, Juliet Berzins '21, Jack Brucker '22, Justin Carlucci '23, Ryan Chmura '23, Alex Chotai '22, Jake Cohen '23, Robby Covello '21, Cat D'Arcangelis '21, Zak Griffin '21, Sarah Pambianchi '21, and Dylan Towle '22.

The next competition is March 27-29 in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, at Bensalem High School. We hope you can make it to cheer on Team Chaos!  If you would like more information, check out the team's website.
