Ice Hockey Reaches First-Ever Haas Cup Final

The ice hockey team’s magical season continued on Wednesday, February 19, as the Knights upset top-seeded Whippany Park, 4-2, to advance to their first-ever Haas Cup final.
 
Brenen Lavoie ’21 and Logan Mote ’22 each scored early to give GSB a 2-1 lead after the first period. Eddie McCarthy ’20 broke a 2-2 tie with a power play goal in the second period, and Matthew Bloomenthal ’22 also scored a goal as well to secure the major victory for Gill.
 
Goalie Alex Steinberg ‘22 was once again very solid in net, stopping 21 of 23 shots on goal.
 
The fourth-seeded Knights will now battle second-seeded Mountain Lakes for the Haas Cup. The two programs have faced each other twice this season, with both contests resulting in ties. The championship game will be on Friday, February 21, at 5:45 p.m. at Mennen Arena.
