Seventh Grade Tech Fair Wows Second and Third Grade Students

Today’s fifth annual GSB Seventh Grade Tech Fair, a culmination of programming skill development in Carrie Johnson’s technology class, gave second and third grade students an opportunity play originally designed games, ranging from those inspired by classics such as Pong and Pac-Man, to chase games, space adventures, and a myriad of fantastic themes... including tacos!

Learning Scratch coding and working in teams for the past several weeks, seventh grade students created video games using a Makey Makey Arduino device as the game controller. They designed their controllers employing conductive materials, such as Play-Doh, tin foil, food, and other elements, which made the devices interact with their games.

According to Ms. Johnson, "The younger students were mesmerized by the innovative designs, and we extend a huge thanks to the second and third grade teachers and their students for spending a class with us!" Ms. Johnson noted that the seventh grade was excited to host and present their fabulous projects. Great job, seventh grade!
