Two Knights Named to NJ All-Decade Team

It is an incredible achievement for a school to have one player named as one of the best players in New Jersey over a span of a decade. To have two players listed during that timeframe is simply remarkable.

That is what GSB is honored with as former standout players Daisha Simmons '10 and Taylor Rooks '14 have both been named among the top-30 girl basketball players in New Jersey from 2010-2019. Their greatness on the court helped establish the girls' program as a state power.

Simmons was the 2010 Star-Ledger Player of the Year and finished her career as Somerset County's all-time leading scorer with an astounding 2,488 points. She averaged 21.5 points and 8.4 assists per game her senior season and also helped GSB win two Somerset County titles.

Rooks was one of two players to be named The Star-Ledger Player of the Year on two occasions in the last decade, earning the honor in 2013 and 2014. She was a First-Team All-State selection both years and the Gatorade New Jersey Girl's Basketball Player of the Year as well. Rooks averaged 23.6 points and 10.7 rebounds per game as a senior and put up 27.4 points, 9.6 rebounds and 3.2 steals per game as a junior.

Congratulations to both Daisha and Taylor!
