Boys’ Basketball to Broadcast on ESPN Channel

The boys’ basketball team will have the exciting opportunity of competing on the national stage when the Knights take on Sierra Canyon (California) on Friday, February 7, at 8:30 p.m. during the Metro Classic in Toms River.

The game broadcast on ESPN 3, an online streaming service.

Gill will certainly have its work cut out against the Trailblazers, as they are ranked in the top-20 in the nation, and also feature two players in the ESPN Top 100 Players rankings. The two players, Bronny James and Zaire Wade, are the sons of current NBA phenom Lebron James and former NBA superstar Dwayne Wade.

The Knights will counter with an ESPN Top 100 player of their own in Zach Martini ’20, along with a solid core of young, skilled players.

“It’s a great opportunity for the kids to play on a national stage and play phenomenal players from around the country, even potentially future NBA players,” said head coach Mergin Sina. “However, we’re not going there to be part of a show. We are going there to try and win. Last year we knocked off Ranney, who was the fifth-ranked team in the country, so this is a great chance for us to get noticed on a national level.”
