Cross Country Team Records Top-10 Finish at Invitational

The boys’ cross country team had an extremely impressive performance at the Back to the Mountain Invitational held at Garret Mountain in Woodland Park on Saturday, September 14. Over 130 runners participated in the meet, and the Knights finished ninth out of 17 schools.

Leading the way for Gill was Niels Rongen ’20, as he placed 17th overall with a quick time of 18:32. Rounding out the GSB lineup was Andrew Young ’21 (37th), William Strong ’22 (61st), Teddy Lazar ‘20 (67th), Luke Mariak ‘20 (76th), Tyler Tellalian ‘23 (84th), and Laksh Patel ‘23 (86th).

Gill also had a girl runner compete in the female varsity race, as Anne Wang ’22 clocked in at 27:43 and finished 91st overall.

“It was a sweet feeling to see the kids perform so well, but it was only sweet because we put the sweat in at practice leading up to the event,” said Head Coach Mike Parker. “I felt like in our first race of the season we did not push the pace enough, but on Saturday they certainly ran with conviction and did their best.”
