Feldman ’19, Mikula ’20 Claim Sectional Crowns

Two Knights claimed individual gold at the Non-Public B, South championships on May 20 and 21 at Donovan Catholic High School.
 
Winning the first title for Gill was senior Jack Feldman as he placed first in discus with a throw of 137 feet, eight inches. Following up on the girls’ side was junior Anna Mikula as she won the javelin event with a throw of 100 feet.
 
Just missing out on winning an individual title were seniors Eve Ryan, Lily Fischer and Mark Rusas. Ryan took second in the long jump with a jump of 15 feet, 11.75 inches while Fischer tied for second place in the high jump event with a jump of four feet, eight inches. Rusas finished third overall in the javelin with a throw of 136 feet, six inches.
 
Also recording top-ten finishes for Gill were Niels Rongen ’21 (1600 and 3200), Mark Giordano ’19 (shot put), Matt D’Ovidio ‘19 (3200), Fischer (long jump), Brian Young ’21 (high jump), Ava Escousse ’21 (100), and Joe Licata ’22 (discus). The boys’ 4 x 800 relay also placed fifth overall.
 
The girls’ squad placed eighth out of 17 schools while the boys’ teams took eighth out of 14 teams.
