Baseball has Solid Week

The baseball team avenged two early-season losses with impressive victories last week over Skyland Conference opponents.

On Monday, April 29, senior Mike Giammarino blasted a three-run home run in the sixth inning to snap a 1-1 tie and the Knights held on to defeat Delaware Valley 6-4. Junior Chris Boney struck out eight over six innings to earn the win on the mound and junior Michael Taylor added a two-run double in the seventh.

Sophomore Joe Skapinetz tossed a complete game one-hitter with ten strikeouts in a 10-0 win over Warren Hills on Thursday, May 2. Sophomore Jake Sempervive went 2-for-2 and scored twice, while Giammarino was 2-for-3 with three RBI. Freshman Logan Mote, senior Eddie McCarthy, and freshman Christian Mote all crossed the plate in an eight-run third inning that broke the game open.

On Friday, May 3, GSB fell to perennial state power Governor Livingston 6-4 despite a career day at the plate by Skapinetz (3-for-4 with a home run and two doubles). Senior AJ Donofrio and sophomore Matt Kalinak added two hits apiece.
