Fencers Compete at State Tournament

For the first time, under head coach Joe Zanko, Gill sent not only one, but two fencers to the NJSIAA state championship this past weekend at Livingston High School.

The event had the top-22 competitors in the state for their respective weapons. Brianna Moglianesi ’19 finished 11th overall in women’s epee after advancing to the second round. Alex DeRing ’19 claimed 18th place in men’s sabre.

“I am immensely proud of Brianna and Alex for competing with the top fencers from over 60 programs in the state,” said Zanko. “I think this result and the earlier results of the women’s sabre squad (fifth in the state) are a sign of how far we have come.”
