Winter Break Kicks Off with Spirit Day and Young Alumni Night!

It will be a special time at Gill on Friday, December 21, as students will enjoy a Sprit Day on campus during the day and Gill will also host its first-ever winter pep rally in celebration of the winter teams and student-athletes.

Even though classes will also be ending on this day for winter break, there will still be plenty to do on the GSB campus that night as the school will be hosting Young Alumni Night at the Athletics Center!

The main event of the night will showcase the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams as they take on Pope John XXIII High School. Admission for all members of the GSB community will be free to the two Gill basketball games. The girls’ squad will tip-off at 5:00 p.m. while the boys will begin their contest at 6:30 p.m. Both games will be “White Out” games so be sure to wear your white shirts in support of the Knights!

The girls’ team has had a strong start to the season as the Knights defeated Hillsborough 48-30 on opening night and also won a tough road match against Marist by a score of 47-36 with Caleigh Walsh ’21 leading the team with an incredible 31-point effort.

The boys’ team has been equally as impressive as Gill has started the season as the third ranked program in New Jersey. The Knights have shown that they have earned that high ranking as they handled Hillsborough 86-43 to begin the season and followed up with a 71-49 win over St. Joseph (Mont.). Paul Mulcahy ’19 averaged 24 points, 9 assists and 9 rebounds over the two games and was named Skyland Conference Player of the Week for his efforts.

The night will also feature t-shirt tosses, half-time contests, and the much anticipated drawing of the Parents’ Association 2018 Luxury Raffle which will feature a $5,000 American Express gift card to a lucky winner. Be sure to come hungry as the Booster Café will offer concessions! The Booster Club has also arranged for Penguin Sundaes to be available, which will be free to GSB alumni as well!

Hope to see everyone there and go Knights!

The two Gill basketball games are part of the Hearts 2 Hand Eric LeGrand Basketball Invitational. Admission to the games played by Gill will be free to members of the GSB community. All other games on this night will include an admission fee with funds going towards Eric LeGrand’s charity of finding a cure for paralysis.
