With 208 acres, Gill St. Bernard's School offers an expansive list of top-quality playing fields and courts. All students benefit from the school's athletic facilities, whether they are being utilized for physical education classes in the Lower School or championship competitive play in the Upper School.

Athletic Center

The Athletic Center is a 27,000 square foot facility, houses three full-size basketball courts and a three-lane indoor track, as well as the athletic administrative offices. Upper School athletic locker rooms and showers, a snack stand for the Athletic Booster Club and an Athletic Training facility complete the first floor. Brueckner Hall, a multi-purpose room overlooking the basketball courts, and two classrooms are located on the second floor.

Field House

The 14,400 square foot building houses a multi-sport practice and game court as well as a fitness center and locker rooms. The new facility, located behind the Cox building and just east of the Fuentes Tennis Complex, also serves as the principle gymnasium for Lower and Middle School students.

Turf Field & Track

The school offers a picturesque, regulation, all-weather synthetic track that provides our athletes a great workout in all seasons. The state-of-the-art turf field, emblazoned with the GSB Knight, was installed in 2013 and provides Upper School soccer and lacrosse players increased playability and helps to prevent injuries that are more likely to occur under rough or slippery conditions.

Baseball Field

Considered one of the best high school diamonds in the state, the baseball field consists of concrete built-in dugouts, an electronic scoreboard, two-bullpens, field screens, a soft-toss net and mound/plate tarps. Each spring the field is prepped with new pro-mix top dressing, and the mound and plate areas are prepped with new clay.

Softball Field

Our premier softball field boasts enclosed dugouts, an electronic scoreboard, field screens, a soft-toss net and mound/plate tarps. Each spring the field is prepped with new pro-mix top dressing, and the mound and plate areas are prepped with new clay.

Upper Fields

The two upper fields are used for lacrosse and soccer. They also comprise part of the school’s cross-country course.

Tennis Courts

The school has seven regulation outdoor hard tennis courts offering ample space for practice and competition for the fall and spring seasons.

Strength and Conditioning Program

Gill is dedicated to giving our student athletes access to strength and conditioning programs best-suited to their specific sport(s) so that they can compete at their highest level. We believe that a thorough strength and conditioning plan is essential to ensuring our athletes are first avoiding injury, and second treating and recovering safely from any injury. The school employs a full-time athletic trainer who is certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and by the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners. He helps educate student athletes on best practices for avoiding injury through customized exercise programs. He also specializes in recognizing, managing and rehabilitating injuries that, unfortunately, may result in the normal course of practice and competition. As part of a complete health care team, the athletic trainer works under the direction of a board-licensed physician and in cooperation with other school health care professionals, athletics administrators, coaches and parents.

Weight Room

The school boasts a new 3,000 square foot weight and fitness facility, complete with cardiovascular and strength-training equipment. The Field House gym is outfitted with Rogers specialized strength equipment for specific targeted outcomes and state-of-the-art Keizer and Greenway cardiovascular equipment.
Gill St. Bernard’s is a private, coeducational day school for students age three through grade 12, located in suburban New Jersey.
